Amanda Ewing, MSW, LICSWA

After completing mission work overseas and spending time in the school system working with special needs kiddos, I quickly realized that I was only to be fulfilled in the service of others. I sought out my social work degree from Portland State University and completed my Masters in Social Work shortly after through the University of Southern California. I focused my degree on mental health and community organizing, planning and administration.
At Maitri, I am honored to be a Counselor and a Behavior Support Specialist for the Expanded Community Services program which serves some of the most vulnerable individuals in our community through compassion and quality time.
Throughout my life, the most emotionally and mentally challenging times for me have been times of major transition. Figuring out what I wanted to do with my life in my early twenties, during relationship changes, moving, changing jobs and a BIG one, becoming a mom, were the times that I needed support from loved ones and sometimes from a counselor. That is why I am passionate about counseling individuals who are experiencing life transitions.
As a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work Associate, I specialize in counseling those who want to learn positive coping and growth strategies for life changes, anxiety, self-esteem and pre/postpartum stages of life. I work with a variety of techniques and center my approach around what the client is hoping to gain from therapy.
I look forward to the opportunity to get to know you!
